The sound is picked up on the panels. It does not need to be connected to a mic or music source. It essentially has one built in.

Extremely good job on the headphones! Good luck with the lights, that sounds difficult. ^^; I'm sure it'll be a wonderful cosplay! :3 I'm wondering, how are the sleeve panels connected to the music source? They need to be connected in order to flash, right? xD I'm planning on ordering a similar thing myself.
